Aimeé García Marrero is considered one of the foremost painters of the new generation of Cuban artists. Much of her work is based on and reacts to the feminine condition and women's roles in society. She investigates and portrays women from different generations, cultures, and religions, often parodying traditional concepts of feminine beauty. Her mixed media images are constructed using varied material, including thread, hair, lead, and photographs, all contributing to the final representation of her ideas. Her first international exhibitions occurred in 1995 after her critical acclaim at the fifth Havana Bienal. Her work has sine been exhibited in the Dominican Republic, South Korea, Spain, Argentina, Israel, Mexico, Ecuador, COSTA Rica, and Lebanon.
